CUF Report shapes city’s approach to serving immigrant seniors
Our 2013 report New Face for New York's Seniors report continues to influence policymakers, prompting a City Council hearing in November 2014.
In November 2014, the City Council Committee on Aging and the Committee on Immigration held a joint oversight hearing called "Serving A Diverse Aging Population-Improving Immigrant Seniors' Access to New York City's Senior Services.” The hearing was directly prompted by CUF’s New Face for New York’s Seniors report about the aging of New York’s immigrant population. Report author Christian Gonzalez-Rivera testified at the hearing and gave details about what city agencies and nonprofit organizations should do to better serve this rapidly growing population of older immigrants.
